What changes occur when ammonium sulfite is stored for an extended period?

Freshly produced ammonium sulfite typically contains over 85% to 90% of its content. However, the concentration gradually decreases with extended storage. Newly produced ammonium sulfite crystals exhibit larger intercrystalline voids and a loose structure. Over time, gravitational forces gradually compress these voids, resulting in compaction and increased product hardness. This is an inherent property of ammonium sulfite and not a quality issue. The product can still be used after physical fragmentation of the hardened blocks. Customers are advised to use the product within six months of its expiration date.

We purchased ammonium sulfite. Can we prepare the solution ourselves?

Ammonium sulfite is highly water-soluble, a key physical property. It dissolves readily in water at room temperature to form an aqueous solution, with its solubility increasing significantly as temperature rises. The specific solubility data (based on monohydrate) are as follows: -0°C: about 32 g/100 ml of water -100°C: about 60.4 g/100 ml of water

How many inspection procedures are required in the production process of ammonium sulfite?

We enforce rigorous quality control over ammonium sulfite from the source. Our procurement team sources materials to the highest standards and conducts initial quality inspections before warehousing. Prior to production, we perform additional material testing; after ammonium sulfite production, we carry out final product testing; and before shipment, we conduct comprehensive quality checks. This comprehensive testing process ensures the product maintains an exceptionally high pass rate, thereby meeting clients' production requirements.

What product standard does ammonium sulfite follow?

The production standard of ammonium sulfite is an industry standard, specifically the HG/T 2784—2023 "Industrial Ammonium Sulfite" of the chemical industry of the People's Republic of China. This standard specifies the technical indicators, test methods, packaging, and storage requirements for both solid and liquid ammonium sulfite products.

What quantity of ammonium sulfite can a 20-foot container hold?

A 20-foot container can hold 24 tons of ammonium sulfite in bulk bags, while a container of the same size can carry 20 tons when palletized.

What are the storage conditions for ammonium sulfite?

Ammonium sulfite is a highly unstable chemical and must be handled with extreme care during storage and use. It should be stored in a sealed container in a cool, dry and well-ventilated place, and should not be exposed to oxidizers.

What are the physical properties of ammonium sulfite?

Ammonium sulfite is an inorganic salt with the chemical formula (NH₄)₂SO₃. Under normal temperature and pressure, it typically exists as a monohydrate (NH₄)₂SO₃·H₂O. Here are the detailed physical properties: 1. Shape and appearance It is usually a white or colorless crystalline solid. When it exists in the form of monohydrate, it is a monoclinic crystal. 2. Smell It has a slight ammonia smell. It may smell irritating because it is unstable and tends to decompose and release ammonia and sulfur dioxide. 3. Solubility It is soluble in water, which is one of the most important physical properties. The solubility of the compound in water increased significantly with the increase of temperature. It is slightly soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol. Specific solubility data (in monohydrate): 0°C: approximately 32 g / 100 mL of water 100°C: approximately 60.4 g per 100 mL of water 4. Density The density of ammonium sulfite monohydrate is about 1.41 g/cm3. 5. Stability and Decomposition Thermal instability: This is a key physicochemical property. Ammonium sulfite is unstable when heated and decomposes. At about 60-70°C, the hydrate loses its water of crystallization and becomes anhydrous ammonium sulfite. At higher temperatures (typically above 150°C), it rapidly decomposes, releasing sulfur dioxide (SO₂), ammonia (NH₃), nitrogen (N₂), and water. Air instability: In the air, particularly in humid conditions, it gradually oxidizes into ammonium sulfate ((NH₄)₂SO₄). 6. Melting point Ammonium sulfite lacks a defined melting point as it decomposes before reaching it, a classic example of a 'decomposes before melting' substance. 7. Tidal dissolving It has a certain hygroscopicity and can absorb moisture from the air.

What are the transportation methods for ammonium sulfite?

As a leading ammonium sulfite manufacturer, we serve customers worldwide. For clients in Eurasia, we use road transport; for those in the Americas, Oceania, and Africa, we use sea transport; and for customers in Western Europe, we use a combined sea-land transport method.

What are the differences between the ammonium sulfite you produce and that of other manufacturers?

We are not only a leading manufacturer of ammonium sulfite but also a pioneer in setting industry standards. Our products exceed the industry standard by 90%, with peak concentrations reaching over 92%. Through continuous innovation, we have resolved the longstanding issue of yellow discoloration in traditional production.
